Glassboro Meets Italy at the 13th Annual St. Anthony’s Italian Festival
Celebrate New Jersey’s Italian American Roots on Saturday, September 12th
Glassboro, NJ—Experience the transformation of Downtown Glassboro during the 13th Annual St. Anthony’s Italian Fest on Saturday, September 12th from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. This free, family-friendly event celebrates the rich Italian American culture within the Glassboro community.
Community members from across the Delaware Valley are invited to Downtown to enjoy the traditional Italian procession, musical performances, authentic Italian cuisine, traditional dance, Italian-inspired artisan vendors, a 50/50 charity raffle, and several friendly contests.
The collaboration between the Borough of Glassboro and St. Anthony’s Mutual Aid Society blends culture, heritage, history, and community, culminating in the most anticipated Italian American events of South Jersey. St. Anthony’s Mutual Aid Society was established within Glassboro in the early 1900’s by Italian immigrants. The mission was clear: provide financial assistance to local families and build a space where Italian traditions could be preserved and celebrated.
The festival kicks off with the annual traditional procession from St. Anthony’s Mutual Aid Society to the Main Stage in Glassboro Town Square at 1:45 p.m. Community members are encouraged to line Popular Street to experience this time-honored tradition. At 2 p.m., join us for the opening ceremony with blessings performed in both English and Italian. The following performance lineup features the Italian Fairy, Greg Armstrong and Friends, the Vivaci Dancers, That’s Amore sing-along, and Right Turn at 40.
New to the festival this year is the new Heritage Stage, located at Rowan Boulevard and Victoria Street. Enjoy additional cultural entertainment such as the Tour of Italy with Landmark Americana, an Italian Fairy meet-and-greet, and an accordion performance. Watch (or participate in) a new pizza-eating contest with Filippo’s Pizza, a cannoli-eating contest with Liscio’s Italian Bakery & Deli, and a grape-stomping contest! Interested participants should visit the Glassboro tent to sign up for each contest. First come, first served!
St. Anthony’s Italian Festival is presented by Nexus Properties and Rowan University, in partnership with St. Anthony’s Mutual Aid Society. Additional sponsorship is provided by Brown & Connery, New Jersey Clean Communities, Fulton Bank, the Law Office of Timothy D. Scafidi, Young Realty, Liscio’s Italian Deli & Bakery, ABO Plasma, Altius Dispensary, Chick-Fil-A Mantua Square & Glassboro, Edifi Credit Union, the Jersey Joint Dispensary, K9 Resorts Luxury Pet Hotel, Academy Row X JAE Exclusive, Renewal by Anderson, ERCO Ceilings & Interiors, and Tim Skabo – State Farm.
