Citizen Reporting Portal

Ring “Neighbors” Partnership

Ring provides a free app called “Neighborhood”, which can be found on both iOs and Android stores. This app allows users – even if they do not have a Ring security system – to communicate with other residents, report incidents, and get real-time alerts put out by community members and our agency, all within an interactive map of our Borough. Those that do have Ring cameras are offered the added ability to upload and/or report incidents privately and directly to our department.

As with our camera registration program, this partnership does NOT provide our agency with direct access to your home surveillance system, and does not allow us to know which residents even have them! While we can view any footage publicly shared within the app, the only time our agency would be directly provided with the footage and identity of a user would be if it is voluntarily provided by the user.

For Frequently Asked Questions about the Neighbors partnership, please click here.

If you would like to download or learn more about the Neighbors app, please click here.

Safe Transaction Zone

The Borough of Glassboro is the latest municipality to establish a safe exchange zone where Internet strangers can meet in person to exchange money and goods sold online.

Recognizing that an increasing number of people are accessing online classified advertisements and conducting exchanges in their homes, officials decided to designate an area in the municipal parking lot as a safe exchange zone.

The Glassboro Police Department is proud to announce our Safe Transaction Zone is up an running! This zone has been set up in the rear of the public municipal lot near the Code Enforcement Building. The area is outlined with a green parking space as well as a green sign indicating the “Safe Transaction Zone”. The parking lot is well-lit, and space is monitored by a state-of-the-art surveillance system. Although the spot is not actively monitored, we will be able to review any transactions that occur in the designated area.

Please be aware, members of the Glassboro Police Department will not participate in transactions or act as witnesses. Our employees are not available for legal advice or allowed to settle disagreements between parties involved in transactions occurring in our facilities. However, if there are general questions, or safety concerns arise during a transaction, please do not hesitate to call 856-881-1500 or 9-1-1.

Transactions involving weapons, drugs, or drug paraphernalia are barred from the zone, as well as they are illegal.

The transaction zone is available for use 24 hours a day, however, citizens are strongly encouraged to use the zone during daylight hours.

Gloucester County Citizen Alert System

The emergency notification system used by the Borough of Glassboro is Everbridge, which is provided and administered by the County of Gloucester.

The emergency notification feature of the Everbridge system is designed for use when there is an imminent threat to safety or life and immediate action by those receiving the message is required.  The reason for this is to prevent subscribers from ignoring the alert or opting out of the system due to excessive messaging.  We want the resident to know that when they receive an emergency message, it is important for them to read it and take whatever action is recommended.

Examples of an imminent threat to life include, but are not limited to, the pursuit of an armed suspect into a residential or business area, a dangerous storm approaching, or a hazardous materials release that has widespread exposure potential.  Messages concerning police investigations, isolated fires, or hazardous materials releases such as a diesel fuel spill on the roadway are some examples of what would not be sent through the emergency notification feature of Everbridge.

Residents are encouraged to subscribe to the Borough’s and the Police Department’s social media pages for information regarding incidents of public concern.  It should be noted that details regarding incidents are released when facts confirm that the information is reliable and they do not impede any ongoing investigations.

For those who would like to limit their notifications to just emergencies or other notifications such as road closures and community events, you can choose those subscriptions when signing up for the system or by editing them in your current Everbridge account.  The Everbridge System is provided and administered by the County of Gloucester.
