Glassboro Residents Can Take Pride in Their Local Schools

Glassboro residents can take pride in their school district and the education that Glassboro children are receiving. A New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum Review just designated Glassboro School District as a high performing district.

The state review encompassed five areas: Instruction and Programming, Fiscal Management, Governance, Operations, and Personnel.

“I appreciate the dedication of staff as well as the support of the Glassboro Board of Education in making critical decisions to attain this level of excellence,” said Dr. Mark Silverstein, superintendent of schools.

Glassboro students achieved success on many fronts over the past year. Glassboro High School Introduction to Business Students won the national Invent2Prevent Competition in Washington, DC after presenting their original R.E.S.P.E.C.T. (Reach Every Student Providing Encouraging Thoughts) Program. GHS students also became county champions in the Vincent J. Apruzzese High School Mock Trial and New Jersey Consumer Bowl competitions. The Select Choir captured first place in the Music in the Parks Festival at Great Adventure. The high school’s Interact Club received a 2023 New Jersey State Governor’s Volunteerism Award. All four Glassboro Public Schools received acclaim as recipients of Character.org’s 2023 Promising Practice Awards. Achievements also came on the athletic fields last school year, with the Boys Cross Country winning the Tri-County Diamond Division championship and Boys Soccer tying for the Tri-County Diamond Division title. The Boys Winter and Spring Track and Field Teams both won South Jersey Group 1 titles.

The district offers 13 Advanced Placement Classes and more than 60 electives, providing students with a solid education.

Student enrollment in the district is increasing.

“Good schools not only bring pride to a community, but they can also potentially increase property tax values,” said Silverstein.

Glassboro School District anticipates that in September 2024 Glassboro voters will have the opportunity to vote on the construction and installation of enhanced educational spaces and new security features in school buildings. That referendum will enable taxpayers to decide on investments in our community schools. A referendum committee, including students, staff, and community members, has been meeting to determine the projects in that referendum. The district is also conferencing with Borough and Rowan representatives to discuss ways to optimize educational growth in Glassboro.
